GITAM Murthy killed in Road Accident in USA

GITAM Murthy killed in Road Accident in USAMVVS Murthy, GITAM University Director, has been  killed in a road mishap.  He has met with the accident, while he was on his way from California to Alaska in a car, to watch the wildlife safari. It is said that three others were also dead, while one person is severely injured among the others who were present in this car are also injured.

This accident took place at 3 pm on Tuesday, when the  car, they were travelling, collided with a truck coming from the opposite direction near 185 mile on the Parks highway.

Mathukumilli Veera Venkata Satyanarayana Murthi, is popular known as Goldspot Murthy. Goldspot was popular soft drink in AP during 80’ and 90’.  He founded Gitam institutes. MVVS Murthy  was also an MLC of TDP and he was suffering from health issues also recently. He had served as an MP in 1991 and 1992.

It is heard that MVVS Murthy and his friends, a total of 5 members, were travelling in a Dodge Minivan and collided with an oncoming truck.

Andhra Pradesh MLC, Ex-MP MVVS Murthy had been to the USA to attend GITAM alumnus function in California. The other deceased have been identified as Veeramachineni Sivaramakrishna, Basava Punnaiah, and VBR Chowdary. Kadiyala Venkataratnam, who was also with them, was severely injured.

MVVS Murthy was born in an affluent agricultural family in picturesque Konaseema area of Moolapolam Village, Ainavilli Mandal, East Godavari District Andhra Pradesh on 3rd July, 1938. After formal schooling at his native place, Murthy  moved on to Kakinada for higher studies and graduated in Economics from P.R.Govt.College.  He has contributed for the establishment of various charitable trusts and foundations i.e. Pragati Charitable Trust, M.P.M.Trust, VBC Educational Society, Kuchipudi Kalakshetra, GITAM Trust and GITAM Foundation.

Bharath, the grand son of MVVS Murthy is married to Nanadamuri Balakrishna’ younger daughter Tejaswini.
